While both authors make compelling arguments backed by great sources, one person’s opinion is definitely more relevant than the others. WebOrwell and Huxley had some correspondence after the publication of 1984. In those correspondences the meaning and intent of both authors is revealed. Orwell was a socialist, but he feared Stalinism, the soviet totalitarianism which you mention, he wrote 1984 as a warning, to help ensure nothing like that ever happened to England and America.
